When Singham came out a few years back, did anyone expect this Ajay Devgn starrer to create a shared universe? Call it a masterstroke or a lazy way to way to promote your movie, but Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar have placed the stepping stone for this to happen with Simmba. The movie stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, with Kedarnath debutante Sara Ali Khan playing the love interest. Ajay Devgn is having a cameo in the film, and so is the rest of the Golmaal gang (the male ones, that is). Simmba is an official remake of the Telugu film Temper, though expect Rohit to give enough original twists to the material like he did with Singham. We are watching Simmba right now and here's what we have to say about the first half. Simmba Movie: Review, Box Office Collection, Budget, Story, Trailer, Music of Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan, Rohit Shetty Film.
"Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba grew up in Shivgad, the same terrain that also belonged to Bajirao Singham. He also has the same ambitions to be a cop like Singham. However, his idea is different - he wants the power and money. And he grows up, he becomes a corrupt officer. When he is transferred to a town in Goa, he comes in the favour of Ranade, a powerful don in the place. Simmba also falls for a girl who runs a lunchbox service near his police station.
The first half of the film all about setting the moral ambiguity of the lead character. And of course, to show how entertaining an actor Ranveer Singh is. The actor lights up the screen whenever he is on the screen and his energy makes a rather tedious first half. Tedious because too much time is spent in some very unwanted comic sequences and a romantic track that feel like a half-cocked bharta. It is only when Simmba deals with the hero's ambiguity and the harrowing incident that forms the turning point where the movie feels remotely interesting."
