Fresh troubles are brewing for Rohit Shetty after Delhi High Court asks his production house to file a response to a plea alleging that the film infringes the trademark of a beverage company. Justice Pratibha M Singh has asked the makers to respond to the notice sent by a Chhattisgarh-based Sona Beverages Co Ltd and also explore the possibility of an arrangement being entered into. In the suit filed by the beverage company, they have claimed the film's title, Simmba infringes its registered trademark 'Simba' "used for a wide variety of products including beers, mineral and aerated water, and other non-alcoholic drinks that are produced by them. The company's trademark is also used in the business of "manufacture, distribution and sale of merchandise including apparels, playing cards, glasses, notepads and various other forms of accessories" and they have been using it since 2015. The court now has made it clear that if the filmmaker's production house does not respond to the company's notice and does not explore the possibility of an arrangement, the matter will be heard on the next date, December 4, which is barely three aways prior to its theatrical release.
