2018 ended on a high note courtesy Ranveer Singh's Simmba. The film, which released on December 28, is still successfully running in the theatres and making money. Directed by Rohit Shetty and co-starring Sara Ali Khan, the cop drama despite opening to not-so-great reviews has earned over Rs 200 crore at the Indian box office. In fact, the film has performed so well at the global box office that it has already surpassed the Rs 350 crore mark. In India, Simmba is now inching towards the Rs 250 crore mark. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging site Twitter and announced the updated figures tweeting, "#Simmba jumps on fourth Sat... Will witness bigger growth today... [Week 4] Fri 66 lakhs, Sat 1.22 cr. Total: ₹ 234.37 cr. India biz."
Ever since Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike stormed the box office, Simmba's performance has been affected and hence the film will have a tough time to surpass the Rs 250 crore mark at the domestic BO. Having said that, the Ranveer starrer still has one more week to mint big money at ticket windows.
But from Friday onwards, things will slow down considerably for Simmba as Kangana Ranaut's much-hyped period war drama Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is finally releasing on January 25. Co-directed by Kangana herself, the film will mark television actress Ankita Lokhande's big Bollywood debut. Apart from her, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta also star in the film.
