While on one hand Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike has stormed the box office, on the other hand, Ranveer Singh's Simmba is minting big moolah at the ticket windows in its third week. The Rohit Shetty directorial is making money at such lightning speed that it has now surpassed the lifetime business of his 2013 blockbuster Chennai Express. Co-starring Sara Ali Khan, Simmba opened to not-so-great reviews from the critics but that has not affected its box office fate at all. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter a while back and revealed the updated box office figures of the film. Simmba Box Office Collection: Ranveer Singh Starrer Surpasses the Rs 350 Crore Mark Worldwide.
He tweeted, "#Simmba crosses *lifetime biz* of #ChennaiExpress and emerges Rohit Shetty’s highest grosser... [Week 3] Fri 2.60 cr, Sat 4.51 cr, Sun 5.30 cr, Mon 2.86 cr. Total: ₹ 227.71 cr. India biz. BLOCKBUSTER."
Apart from doing exceptionally well in India, Simmba has also fared well globally. The cop drama went pass the Rs 350 crore mark at the global box office in just 15 days. Not only is the film Rohit Shetty's highest grosser till date but its also his 3rd that has entered the Rs 200 crore club and his 8th consecutive 100 crore film too. Now that's an achievement that hardly any filmmaker can beat, no?
As for Ranveer, Simmba has turned out to be his first biggest solo blockbuster. It's also his second successful outing of 2018 after Padmaavat which had released last January. With Simmba doing a phenomenal job at the ticket windows, expectations are now sky high from Ranveer's next which is Gully Boy. Co-starring Alia Bhatt, the Zoya Akhtar directorial will hit the screens next month on February 14.
