After Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh has delivered yet another blockbuster in the form of Simmba. Co-starring Sara Ali Khan, the cop drama has been pulling the crowd to the cinema halls since day one despite garnering not-so-great reviews. While the Rohit Shetty directorial failed to impress the critics, Ranveer was praised for his performance in the masala entertainer and for carrying the film on his own. No wonder, Simmba crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in the opening weekend itself. In fact, the box office figures for Simmba have only gotten better which each passing day and now the film is eyeing to enter the coveted Rs 200 crore club. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to popular microblogging site Twitter and revealed that Simmba collected Rs 6.16 crore on day 11, thus bringing its total collection to Rs 196.80 crore in India. He tweeted, "#Simmba inches closer to ₹ 200 cr... Will be the third film [2018] to breach ₹ 200 cr mark [Nett BOC], after #Sanju and #Padmaavat... [Week 2] Fri 9.02 cr, Sat 13.32 cr, Sun 17.49 cr, Mon 6.16 cr. Total: ₹ 196.80 cr. India biz."
Though Ranveer and Sara's film released just a week after Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif starrer Zero, the action drama hardly faced any competition at the box office from Khan's most expensive film till date. In fact, Simmba has had a smooth ride at the ticket windows till now and it looks like things won't change as no big film is arriving in theatres this week. Simmba, which has become the third highest grossing film of this year, is Ranveer's second highest grossing film since his acting debut. As for Sara, it's going to be her first Rs 200 crore film and that's commendable considering she is only one film old. For Rohit Shetty, shattering box office records with his films is nothing new. He has done it before and with Simmba he has become the first director to deliver 8 films that have entered the Rs 100 crore club.
