Simmba Box Office Collection Day 1: Ranveer Singh’s Film Beats Padmaavat to Become His Highest Opener; Earns Rs 20.72 Crore

We did not know that Ranveer Singh could arrive more than he has already arrived. But, we love to say it, Ranveer Singh has arrived. The actor's most recent release, Simmba, directed by Rohit Shetty, has wrapped up the year 2018 with a bang. The action dramedy has managed to earn a whopping Rs 20.72 crore on its opening day. The highest for any Ranveer starrer. Simmba even beats Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, which was regarded as one of the most successful movies of this year. So, Ranveer not only opened 2018 with box office grandeur but ended it as well. If Gully Boy was to release in January 2019, the cycle would have continued.
Ranveer starrer Padmaavat released at the brim of this year after months of delay due to nationwide protests. The movie opened with Rs 19 crore, also enjoying an extended weekend and solo release after Akshay Kumar gracefully bowed out and delayed his film Pad Man by a few weeks. Well, with Simmba, the movie might have gotten a solo release, but it had competition in the face of Shah Rukh Khan's Zero. Even Rajinikanth's 2.0 is running in theatres. It is a big achievement that the movie managed to break the record for Ranveer. Simmba also stars Sara Ali Khan. Who also has received her biggest opener. But remember this is only her second film and she only has a minor role in it. We are sure she will give us a solo hit soon. Nevertheless, two of her movies (including Kedarnath) are running in theatres simultaneously, which is a feat in itself. We have not seen that happen in a long time in Bollywood.
Let us see if Simmba emerges to be the biggest hit of the year. The word of mouth is very good for the film.
