Simi Garewal Birthday Special: From Mera Naam Joker to Karz, Check Out the Bollywood Actress' Most Iconic Roles 

Actress Simi Garewal turns 72 today and we celebrate the yesteryear star's birthday by looking at some of her most popular Bollywood roles in films such as Mera Naam Joker, Siddhartha and more. The actress who became a famed talk show host later was loved by the audiences.

Many of you may remember Simi Garewal as the gorgeous yesteryear actress who was one of the most glamorous talk show host on Rendevous. Way before Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan, Bollywood celebrities poured their heart out on Simi Garewal’s show. With her amazing interpersonal skills, Garewal managed to get celebrities talking about their hardest moments. But way before this, Simi starred in some of the biggest Bollywood films. After making her debut at 15, England bred Garewal returned to India as a teenager and soon started working in Bollywood. As she celebrates her 72nd birthday, we look at some of her most iconic roles in Bollywood. Simi made sure to play some of the most interesting roles in Bollywood, ranging from an out and out antagonist in Karz to a young teacher in Mera Naam Joker. Here's looking at some of her popular movie roles.

1. Mera Naam Joker 

In Raj Kapoor's popular drama Mera Naam Joker, Simi Garewal essayed the role of a young, beautiful teacher in an all-boys school who becomes the attraction for Rishi Kapoor's character who is shown to be a teenage boy. Not only did Garewal look stunning in this film but she also managed to impress everyone with her performance.

2. Karz 

In one of her most iconic roles, Simi Garewal was spot on as Kamini Verma, the murderous wife in Karz.  Starring alongside Rishi Kapoor, she played a woman who pushes her husband off a cliff after their marriage. The actress showed amazing contrast from being a woman pretending to be in love with her husband to a heartless killer. She will always be remembered among the popular female villains of Bollywood.

3. Siddhartha 

This film released in the year 1972 stirred a massive controversy. It was based on the novel by the same name by Hermann Hesse and revolved around a young Indian who embarks upon a journey to find the meaning of existence. 4. Do Boond Paani 

In noted director K A Abbas' film s Do Boond Paani (1971), Simi was seen in a way different role than before as a demure rural wife battling against a perennial water shortage, but keeping alive her hope represented by the canal her husband Jalal Agha is shown to be building.

5. Teen Deviyan

Teen Deviyan released in 1965 and was directed by Amarjeet starring Dev Anand, Simi Garewal, Nanda and Kalpana. Filmed mostly in black and white,  the movie tells the story of a poet who falls in love with three different women. Garewal looked stunning in this film.
