Shweta Bachchan Nanda's father-in-law and the Chairman of Escorts Group, Rajan Nanda passed away. Amitabh Bachchan flew in to India as soon as he heard the news and even thanked fans on Twitter for offering their condolences. Husband of the late Ritu Nanda, who was legendary actor Raj Kapoor's daughter, Rajan was declared brain dead by a hospital in Gurgaon, according to reports. Ranbir Kapoor's sister, Riddhima Sahni took to Instagram to express her grief. She wrote, "You were are & will always remain a legend! Thank you for all the love always - will miss you so much uncle - until we meet again RIP uncle Rajan [sic]".

Friends and family close to the industrialist have been tweeting about the devastating news. Kalyani Saha Chawla, who is quite close to the family, tweeted, "So very sad to hear the passing away of Rajan Nanda. A great husband , father and grandfather , one of India’s greatest industrialists and a keen listener and advisor. Will miss you, rest in peace. [sic]" The late industrialist was survived by his son, Nikhil and daughter Natasha Nanda. Nikhil, Shweta's husband, is the Managing Director of Escorts Group. We hope the family finds the strength to cope up with this loss.
