We recently reported about Ayushmann Khurrana's next, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which will star the actor in a gay love story and guess what? The film's mini teaser announcement video is here and it looks amazing. Ever since we saw Sonam Kapoor's Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, the first commercial Bollywood film to deal with a Lesbian protagonist, we wished to see a full-on commercial gay romance and looks like it is here. Ayushmann successfully impressed us in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan which starred him in a character having erectile dysfunction and now the actor is taking it a notch higher to play a gay character. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan: Ayushmann Khurrana's Next is All About a Gay Love Story
The teaser looks impressive with all the references about popular romances in India since times immemorial. From Laila-Majnu to Raj-Simran from DDLJ, everything gets a mention here and eventually, we learn that this is a film about a gay romance. The teaser is intelligent with its references to the scrapping of Article 377 and we already think this film looks like a winner.
Take a look at the teaser here:
The sequel is led by director Hitesh Kewalya. Producer Aanand L Rai confirmed the same saying, "The Shubh Mangal Saavdhan franchise is our tribute to the churning that keeps our society alive. Every instalment will deal with a topic that touches every person but no one wants to speak about it publicly. Like the first film, this one too will broach a taboo subject with great sensitivity and light humour. I anticipate a lot of conversations and cheer around the second film too.” Ayushmann Khurrana-Yami Gautam To Rekindle Their 'Vicky Donor' Chemistry in Amar Kaushik's Film 'Bala'.
We hear, the film is about a conservative family dealing with the fact that their son is gay. The film with its light humour is expected to make some strong points about homosexuality. It is definitely brilliant to see directors and producers trying their best to bring these topics to the fore without making it all preachy. The film is all set to hit the screens on Valentine's 2020. We can't wait to find out who will be the other male lead in this film!
