The #MeToo movement may have slowed down but we have another popular name from Bollywood who has been accused of sexual misconduct. According to a report in Huffington Post, celebrated filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has been accused of sexual assault by a woman. She has alleged that she was abused sexually by Hirani between March - September 2018 while on the sets of Sanju. Rajkumar Hirani’s Name Removed As the Producer From Sonam Kapoor’s Film Over Sexual Harassment Allegations?

According to the report, the woman has alleged that the assault took place once the team started working on post- production of the film. She brought it to producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra's notice by sending him an e-mail on November 3, 2018. Anupama Chopra, who is Vidhu Vinod Chopra's wife and a well- known critic, was also marked on the email. Abhijat Joshi, who has worked on the script of Sanju and a few other Hirani's films was also aware about this e-mail. But neither of them ever raised this issue, we believe else it would have definitely come out in public.

HuffPost India spoke to the woman and shared excerpts from the email. "I remember forming these words on my lips - 'Sir. This is wrong...Because of this power structure. You being the absolute power and me being a mere assistant, a nobody - I will never be able to express myself to you," the woman wrote of the April 9 incident in the email.

"My mind, body and heart were grossly violated that night and for the next 6 months," the email said of the period that followed.

A couple of days back, Mumbai Mirror and Pinkvilla carried a blind item where they referred to a filmmaker "who had a major movie last year", was accused of sexual misconduct. Due to which, the makers of an upcoming film (Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga) decided to drop his name from the poster.

Hirani, however, has denied all allegations. His lawyer Anand Desai has been quoted saying, “At the outset, our client states that the allegations made against him are false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory,” Desai said in an email dated December 5, 2018 to HuffPost India. You can read the entire story on Huffington Post here.

After that, several women came forward to share their ordeal and names like Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Abhijeet Bhattacharya and many others were accused of sexual harassment.
