Shammi Kapoor was the son of Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsharni Kapoor. The legend is remembered for his charm and acting prowess. Shammi Kapoor entered the world of cinema in 1948 as a junior artiste. On his 8th death anniversary, his nephew Rishi Kapoor, has shared a perfect tweet remembering the legend.
Shammi Kapoor made his acting debut in 1953 with the film Jeevan Jyoti in which Chand Usmani was his heroine. The initial years of his career did not boom as expected, but it was in the late 1950s Shammi Kapoor shot to fame. With films such as Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Dil Deke Dekho he came in the limelight. His stylish avatars did grab attention and with time he bagged some of the best films in his kitty. For those who don’t know, Shammi Kapoor never needed a choreographer as he choreographed the dance steps by himself for the songs in which he was featured. And that’s how he earned the name, Elvis Presley of India. Besides playing the role of lead actors, Shammi Kapoor also played supporting roles in films such as Zameer, Parvarish, Vidhaata among others.

Shammi Kapoor passed away on August 14, 2011 after suffering from chronic renal failure. The entire Kapoor family and other industry members were present for his funeral which took place on August 15 at Banganga Cremation Ground in Malabar Hill, Mumbai. Shammi Kapoor’s contribution to the world of cinema will always be cherished!
