The Padmaavat actor is smoking, drinking, and swearing his way to bring justice to the role of Kabir Singh. The movie is a remake of the hit Telugu film Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Devarakonda. As soon as the posters and teaser of Shahid starrer were dropped, a wave of excitement stormed the internet and the fans went gaga over Shahid’s rocking transformation.

While the alcoholic, cocaine-snorting surgeon has managed to attract everyone’s attention, Shahid had a very tough time with the transformation, as the actor is a teetotaller. It wasn’t exactly a piece of cake for Shahid, who not only had to act like he was smoking but literally light the bud more time than not. In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor said, “I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day. It would take me close to two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children.”
Kabir Singh revolves around the story of a medical student who has anger management issues and after a failed relationship, indulges in alcoholism. Helmed by Sandeep Vanga and bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Kishan Kumar and Ashwini Varde, the movie will hit the theatres on June 21.
