Shahid Kapoor is on a roll in 2018. He scored his first Rs 300 crore grosser of his career with Padmaavat earlier this year. The movie's success brought him laurels, including winning an award in the much debatable Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2018, will also got him some interesting future offers, like Toilet - Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh's social satire Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
We also hear that he is in talks with Airlift and Chef director Raja Krishna Menon for a movie. The director himself has confirmed the news that he is in the process of finalising Shahid as the lead actor. However, no official announcement has been made yet.
Now in a report in DNA, we learn that if Shahid accepts Raja Krishna Menon's movie, he will be playing a boxer for the first time in his career. He has earlier played a cricketer in YRF's Dil Bole Hadippa.
A source close to the development told the publication, "Shahid is doing a sports-based film with Raja. He wanted to explore that space for quite some time. He plays a boxer who emerges triumphant against all odds in his life. Someone had approached Shahid with the story. He liked it and since he was already discussing about collaborating with Raja, Sasha asked the filmmaker if he would want to work on it. And the latter started developing it further."
The source also revealed that Shahid will start training for the movie once he completes the shoot for Batti Gul Meter Chalu. "He needs to have a particular physique to play the character convincingly and learn the techniques of boxing," the source adds. We are waiting for the official confirmation on this.
Personally too 2018 has been a great year for Shahid. Recently his wife, Mira Rajput, had announced that they are expecting their second child soon. They had their first child, daughter Misha, in 2016. His younger brother, Ishaan Khatter, also officially made his debut this year with Majid Majidi's Beyond the Clouds.
