Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh was undoubtedly a smashing hit at the ticket windows. The songs and the performances were loved by the fans. However, that did not help the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film to steer clear from the controversies. The film was slammed by many for the portrayal of the flawed character and his actions towards the female protagonist (Kiara Advani). There were many counter arguments on the same too. However, at the recently held India Today Conclave, the actor was asked to speak up on the whole issue. Here, he posed the question that why no one blamed Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan or Sonam Kapoor, for the way their characters were portrayed. Shahid Kapoor Defends Kabir Singh, Says 'Maybe the Way Kabir Loves Preeti, People Love This Film'.

At the conclave, he said, "If you think cinema is an educational institution that you're taught what you should or should not to do, that's your choice. Cinema is meant to mirror life. It's about representing the truth. It's an adult film, for adults, who can distinguish between right and wrong. Are you telling me that Mr Bachchan is someone who taught people to be a thief? You know you're going to watch a movie right, it's fiction right?"

While explaining further, he said, "No one brought up Baazigar, when SRK kills Shilpa Shetty. No one said anything about putting a commode seat on Sonam Kapoor's neck in Sanju. Sab Kabir Singh ke peeche kyun pade hain?"

Well, the argument still remains amid some of the die hard fans and others who did not agree with the plot. But for once and all, Sasha has put forth his point in front of the audience. Now, we wonder how does the audience manage to take this statement.
