Shahid Kapoor's brother, Ishaan Khatter, made his commercial debut in Bollywood with Dhadak opposite Janhvi Kapoor recently. While the film got a mixed response from audience, Ishaan's performance was loved by the audience. Shahid was, however, not a part of promotions as much as fans expected him to be. At the trailer launch of Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Shahid was asked why he wasn't a part of Dhadak promotions to which he said, "I wasn't Invited. Yesterday some after party happened I saw pictures this morning so I messaged Ishaan dat ‘thanks bro for letting me know’ so he said ‘bro I wasn’t sure if I want to call anyone’."

Batti Gul Meter Chalu's trailer was quite hard-hitting but well, it could have avoided the sexism that was shown in the end. Shahid and Ishaan have been spotted bonding at several occasions. The two brothers are  very supportive of each other and Shahid never hesitates to talk about how proud he is of Ishaan. Despite him not being a part of promotions physically, Shahid made it a point to promote Dhadak through his social media accounts. Shahid also spoke about why he decided to do Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
