Taran Adarsh too took to social media to officially announce the release date of the film. "#ArjunReddy to release on 21 June 2019... Stars Shahid Kapoor... Directed by Sandeep Vanga... Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde... Filming begins Aug 2018... Remake of Telugu hit #ArjunReddy," shared Adarsh.

It has been confirmed that Tara Sutaria, who will be making her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar's Student of The Year 2, will be starring opposite Shahid in the Arjun Reddy Hindi remake.

The original film revolved around a medical student who falls in love with his junior and how their relationship evolves. The film featured Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles. The movie faced criticism from several quarters for being regressive but was lauded for its honest portrayal of the title character.
