The FCRA license to the Meer Foundation was reportedly granted some months ago. This year alone, 175 organisations have received FCRA approval, including Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom's boxing foundation. However, it's important to note that the government maintains strict oversight. The FCRA unit has audited over 335 NGOs since 2019 to ensure compliance with funding regulations. Meer Foundation Granted License For Foreign Funding
Amendments to the FCRA Act in September 2020 further strengthened these regulations. Public servants are now barred from receiving foreign funds, and Aadhaar identification is mandatory for NGO leadership. Additionally, administrative spending limitations were tightened, restricting foreign funds used for operational costs to only 20%, down from the previous 50% allowance.
