Based on Bilal Siddiqui's book "The Bard Of Blood", the show is set against the backdrop of the Indian subcontinent. The multilingual series will tell the story of an expelled spy, Kabir Anand who is recalled from his new life as a Shakespeare professor in Panchgani to save his country and a long-lost love.

Well, after the monumental success of Saif Ali Khan starrer Netflix series Sacred Games, directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, the benchmark is set quite high for Bard of Blood. Though, to be noted, the future of Sacred Games is uncertain at the moment, after production house Phantom Films dissolved in the wake of the #MeToo movement. After Sacred Games, Radhika Apte-Manav Kaul starrer Ghoul became the second Indian web series on Netflix. But again, chances are slim there will be a season 2 for it since it was a mini-series.
