Shah Rukh Khan is currently in Melbourne attending the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2019. But there is another reason why the actor is there.  He has added one more doctorate to his list. SRK received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters at La Trobe University for his humanitarian work with women, especially with Meer Foundation. "I experienced firsthand the superficiality of social values that place a woman’s appearance before her inner worth. I wanted to subvert that idea - to create a space where a woman can be freed of these archaic notions, and the true source of her beauty could be celebrated," the actor said during his speech. IFFM 2019 Winners List: Shah Rukh Khan Wins an Excellence in Cinema Award, Gully Boy and Andhadhun Bag Other Top Honours.

Explaining the heart of his work at Meer Foundation, the actor said, "A man had thrown acid on a woman, and she shared a lovely thing with me. She said, 'He wanted me defeated in life, but I’m never defeated if I don’t decide to lose to him.' That has become the mantra of my life," In honour of the actor, the university also announced a four year $200,000 research scholarship for a yet-to-be-determined female Indian candidate.

"This is not an award for anything the MeerFoundation might have achieved. It is for the courage of every woman who faces the brutality of injustice, inequality and inhumanity," he added. IFFM 2019: Shah Rukh Khan Steals The Show As Usual With His Unmatched Wit and Charm (View Pics and Video).
