A whole generation has grown up watching Shah Rukh Khan on the big screen. Today, he is the most elite actor that India has. Fans worship him. With 267 awards in his kitty, including 15 Filmfares and a Padma Shri by GOI, you'd think he is the best as they come. But Shah's thought process is quite different. He thinks that he is not a perfect actor. He talked to Hindustan Times, before the release of Zero (an interview that was published only today), where he discussed the difference between critical and commercial acclaim. He said that box-office is tougher to please than the critics, after claiming in an interview that he has never experienced completeness as an artist.

Talking about the judgements he receives on his choice of movies, he said, "Sometimes, they are personal but even then, I have the patience to tell myself that may be, they said it because of the expectations they have from me. Maybe they think, ‘Yeh Swades (2004) aur Chak de kyu nahi kar raha?’ But main kar toh chuka hoon. Kyu karu main phir se? I like to try [new things] and go wrong,” Zero: 5 Key Lessons Shah Rukh Khan Should Take Away From the Debacle of His Biggest Film.

Shah Rukh added, " I am not a perfect actor, I never claimed to be one and every perfection of mine is not desirous to get box-office numbers. It’s an attempt to figure out if I can do something new, given the parameters of the work that I do. I listen to them and I say that it (movie review) is out because they care for me. Some of them get personal and they don’t matter to me. You attempt within your acting skill to ride the boat of appealing to the gallery, sometimes subtly, sometimes ‘Chennai Expressedly’.” Salute: Shah Rukh Khan To Start Shooting For Rakesh Sharma Biopic Earlier Than Scheduled and The Reason is Legit.

Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Aanand L Rai's directorial Zero, which is still running in theatres. The movie fared moderately at the box office but was not able to please the critics all over. However, our in-house movie critic, Sreeju Sudhakaran, absolutely loved the film. BTW, do you agree with Shah Rukh Khan? Or do you think he is the perfect actor?
