Shah Rukh Khan and R Madhavan Confirmed to Star in Vikram Vedha Remake?
If Shah Rukh Khan is indeed a part of the remake, this would be his second South remake after Billu
A couple of weeks back, it was confirmed that the terrific Tamil movie of 2017, Vikram Vedha, will be made in Bollywood with Neeraj Pandey as one of the producers. Pushkar and Gayathri, who directed the original movie, were retained to helm the same. Vikram Vedha, based on the format of the Bikram-Betaal folktales, had R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. It received universal acclaim and was a hit at the Tamil box office. It also earned the top spot at IMDB's best Indian movies of 2017, beating the likes of Baahubali 2 and Secret Superstar.
While the crew was announced, it was not yet ascertained as to who would play the lead roles. Earlier, when the project was still in speculation stage, R Madhavan wanted to reprise his character from the original and wanted Shah Rukh Khan to do the role of the gangster. It was reported that the makers were in talks with the Bollywood superstar to take on the role, however, after doing Raees, it was heard that SRK wasn't too keen to take the role. With the remake being officially announced, there were still no confirmation as to if even Madhavan would take on the role.
But now a recent conversation between Madhavan and a senior journalist sparked our interest in the casting again. When Madhavan confirmed that he is opting out of Ranveer Singh's Simmba because of his shoulder injury, popular South journo Sreedhar Pillai tweeted to him the below,
However, R Madhavan, instead of denying the casting speculation, simply wrote,
So did Madhavan just confirm that Shah Rukh Khan is in the Vikram Vedha remake? Or did he actually overlook the part, where Mr Pillai must have just put out a wish-based speculation? Guess, we have to wait and watch!
If Shah Rukh Khan is indeed a part of the remake, this would be his second South remake after Billu (which was a remake of the Malayalam movie, Katha Parayumbol).
Shah Rukh Khan is currently completing the production of Zero, after which he will do his first biopic in Salute, based on the life of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
