Shabana Azmi met with a terrible car accident on January 18 afternoon and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Panvel owing to her injuries. The actress was travelling when her car rammed into a truck from behind on the Mumbai - Pune Expressway. Later, the veteran actress was shifted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri. As soon as the news of the actress' accident broke, a few celebrities reached at the hospital to pay a visit to the star. As for Azmi's condition now, husband Javed Akhtar spoke to Bollywood Hungama and said that the actress is in the ICU and her health is improving. The veteran lyricist informed the portal, “Don’t worry. She is in the ICU but all the scan reports are positive. It seems there’s no serious harm done.”

In the meantime, an FIR has been registered against Azmi's driver for 'rash driving'. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the doctors had informed, that the actress has suffered a head injury and damage to the backbone. Dr Salgotra told Mirror, "We did not find any injuries to the chest or abdomen, but more tests are required to confirm there is no major injury. She was conscious and responding to treatment." Here's hoping a speedy recovery for the actress.
