On August 13 the trailer of upcoming flick Section 375 was released. The trailer highlighted how two lawyers battle in a courtroom over outraging the modesty of a woman. It also showed how a rape survivor is being questioned by a cop and how her statements are been recorded. Akshaye Khanna (criminal lawyer Tarun Saluja), Richa Chadha (public prosecutor Hiral Mehta) and Meera Chopra (victim Anjali Dangle) are playing the lead roles. A petition has being filed against the producers Kumar Mangal and Abhishek Mangal Pathak, and the film’s lead actor Akshaye Khanna. It is stated in the petition that the trailer maligns the image of lawyers. Section 375 Actor Richa Chadha Suggests Sexual Harassment Accused Shouldn’t Be Trolled until Proven Guilty.

The petition has been filed by an advocate named Wajed Khan Bidkar and a student, Amarjeet Mhaske. The petitioners have demanded a stay on the release of the film, reports Pune Mirror. After hearing the arguments, the Pune Civil Court has summoned that the respondents in this case have to appear before the court on September 9. Advocate Bidkar told Mirror, “The film maligning the image of legal professionals and their vocation. The scenes, including cops taking the statement of the rape survivor inside the police station and recording cross statement inside the courtroom, are removed from facts.”

The advocate was further quoted saying as,” This will send a totally wrong message to those who have gone through such a harrowing experience in real life. Such faulty portrayals will demoralise rape survivors willing to fight the tough fight.” Section 375, directed by Ajay Bahl is scheduled to be released on September 13. Will it be delayed or not, only time will tell.
