Ageism in Bollywood is an open secret, especially evident in the casting of leading pairs where the age gaps often strain credibility. This trend prompts a troubling question: why do young actresses are roped in opposite aged male counterparts? It goes beyond discomfort to see older actors paired with much younger actresses. Having said that, the latest film joining the bandwagon is Sarfira, starring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan. The trailer for the upcoming film Sarfira, featuring Akshay Kumar, was unveiled on June 18. The movie depicts Akshay (56) as a villager determined to launch his own airline, aiming to democratise air travel for ordinary villagers and beyond. Against the backdrop of startups and the aviation industry, the film also stars Radhika Madan (29) as the female lead. Notably, there is a significant age gap of 27 years between Akshay and Radhika. However, this isn't the first time Akshay has romanced an actress who is much younger than him. In Prithviraj (2022), Akshay Kumar (54) was paired with debutante Manushi Chillar (24), with a 30-year age gap between the two. Other examples include Bachchhan Paandey starring Kriti Sanon, Atrangi Re featuring Sara Ali Khan, Kiara Advani in Laxmii and more.

In a nutshell, this massive age gap trend reinforces every other upcoming movie in Bollywood to tap it and select a young 'eye candy' opposite the hero. What do you think?
