Hey, don't throw stones at us just! I loved Sanju trailer and I am glad that Rajkumar Hirani has brought in his light-hearted style of film-making into the dark, chaotic life of his muse, Sanjay Dutt. We all agree that Sanjay Dutt is one enigmatic personality, whose life has seen several ups and downs, and the trailer at least makes us feel that Hirani has managed to address most of them. Then there is Ranbir Kapoor and how can you not love his performance in Sanju? There is no concern about him mimicking Sanjay Dutt; this is just Ranbir getting into the skin of the character and giving an incredible performance.

Hirani has also managed to bring in an excellent acting ensemble, with the very talented Vicky Kaushal, who plays Dutt's friend, being the pick of the lot. Overall, the trailer of Sanju promises to give us one rollicking affair when it releases on June 29.

That said, the trailer still gives us slight concerns about the movie. Here in this special feature, we have address 7 little niggles we have about the trailer, that are relevant to the movie.

The Azhar treatment

We are happy that Sanjay Dutt's good friend Rajkumar Hirani has not skittled away from addressing the controversial parts of Dutt's life. That said, we do hope that Hirani does call spade a spade, and not make Dutt a victim of circumstances. In short, don't go the Azhar way!

Sonam's weird performance

Sonam Kapoor is not exactly a consistent actress, though she has given strong performances in Neerja and Pad Man. But don't know what Sonam is exactly trying to do in the above scene. Was it deliberately shot this way? And what's with the accent?

Anushka's bizarre hairstyle

Anushka is a wonderful performer, but I don't understand why Hirani always fits her with weird wigs. First PK, now this!

How Bollywood features into it

There were rumours that Hirani was not happy with the fact that he had to excise important Bollywood personalities in Sanjay Dutt's life, because they don't have the permissions. So we are not sure if we will ever see Sanjay's Dutt's controversial filmy romances with Madhuri Dixit and Tina Munim nee Ambani. The trailer doesn't give any hint. There were also speculations that Jim Sarbh might be playing Salman Khan, but going by his look above, he rather looks like Govinda. So, apart from Mahesh Manjrekar, are we ever going to see any representations of Bollywood here?

Celebration of masochism

This concern did come to my mind first when I saw the teaser of the movie. Sanju's trailer might have delved into the repercussions of Sanjay Dutt's misdeeds, but there is a sense of celebrating masochism here. From Dutt and his friend's colourful escapades to him bragging about his 308 girlfriends (and Anushka's biographer chuckling about it), there is a lot of flaunting of masculinity here. In the times of a #MeToo campaign getting stronger, do we really need this?

Bad CGI

When it comes to representing Sanjay Dutt's movies in the film, Sanju has taken a leaf out of Sushant Singh Rajput's MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Remember how that movie pasted Sushant's face on Dhoni's body while showing the real matches and how weird it looked? The above image shows us that the makers of Sanju haven't learned from this!

Paresh Rawal

This concern has nothing to do with Paresh Rawal the actor; in fact, he is still one of the finest talents we have in this country. But seeing what Paresh Rawal the person has become these days, promoting fake news and being a stooge for his political party, it feels really weird to see him play the late Sunil Dutt in the movie - a man who is still respected in both film and political circles, even after his death.
