Sanju has finally managed to give Ranbir Kapoor his first ever 200 crore movie! The actor was always good with the choice of his films and his performance, however, he somehow never got a chance to be on the throne of a box office king. Stepping into the shoes of Sanjay Dutt through this Rajjkumar Hirani film has turned out to be golden for RK. On day 7, the flick managed to garner the Rs 16.10 crore, taking the total collection up to Rs 202.51 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Sanju is 200 NOT OUT... Has an EXTRAORDINARY Week 1... Crosses *lifetime biz* of #3Idiots [₹ 202.47 cr] in 7 days... Fri 34.75 cr, Sat 38.60 cr, Sun 46.71 cr, Mon 25.35 cr, Tue 22.10 cr, Wed 18.90 cr, Thu 16.10 cr. Total: ₹ 202.51 cr. India biz.”

The film started making news when the fans got the glimpse of Ranbir as Sanjay through some leaked pictures on the sets. The pictures were like a hard-hitting answer to those who narrowed their eyes on knowing that he will be playing Dutt. Even then, there were some doubts about his mannerisms and tone. The teaser and the trailer washed out those as well. The film turned out to be a blockbuster, and the major share of this success goes to his amazing transformation from the handsome Kapoor to crazy Dutt. Check out that transformation video here:

The film has been getting mostly positive response for the performances and the execution. However, it is also receiving minus points for allegedly ‘white-washing’ the public image of Dutt. Also, the scenes of media bashing and defending himself in his infamous case through the film has not gone down well with many of them. All said and done, this a purely performance-based movie and should be appreciated for has gone right with the film. What are your thoughts?
