In Sanjay Dutt's filmography, one of the most important films that he has done was Sadak. The 1991 film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and has some strong performances from Dutt and Pooja Bhatt. It also had one of the best films in Hindi cinema in Sadashiv Amrapurkar's Maharani, for which he won Filmfare Award for Best Villain. The movie was inspired by Robert De Niro's classic Taxi Driver with some callbacks to Jean Claude Van Damme's Cyborg. Sadak was a huge hit back then.

In the last couple of years, there have been talks about making a sequel for the movie. While nothing concrete had been given out, we didn't have much hope for the project. Looks like we were wrong in thinking so, as Mahesh Bhatt and his brother, producer Mukesh Bhatt are dead serious in making Sadak 2.

The movie has been greenlighted and even the release date has been affixed as per trade analyst, Taran Adarsh. Sadak 2 will be releasing on November 15, 2019. However, the details of the starcast or the director have not been revealed yet. The movie will be made under the Bhatt's banner, Vishesh Films.

We also don't know if this will be a proper sequel to the first movie, or will be a soft reboot a la Judwaa 2. Earlier there had been talks about Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt playing the main leads this time, with Sanjay Dutt playing an important role. However, after the breakup of Sidharth and Alia, we don't expect this to happen. Alia Bhatt has never done a home production before, so this gives her a perfect platform to do so.
