Salman Khan is all set to produce Pankaj Tripathi's upcoming film Kaagaz. The film is being helmed by actor Satish Kaushik who was recently seen along with Salman in Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat. Kaagaz marks Satish Kaushik's return to direction after five years. The actor's last directorial was Gang of Ghosts. The film will be set in UP and is inspired by the real-life story of Lal Bihari, a farmer who is declared dead on paper when his relatives connived with a corrupt official to snatch his land as reported by Mumbai Mirror. Satish Kaushik had earlier directed Salman Khan in 2003's Tere Naam. Speaking about his latest collaboration with Salman as a producer, the actor told Mumbai Mirror, "After Tere Naam I couldn’t make another film with him, I am glad that we have collaborated on this one. When he saw the rushes, he reacted, saying, ‘Sir, iski copy nikalo’."
Kaagaz will star Pankaj Tripathi in lead along with Monal Gajjar. According to the report, Salman was happy with the film's script and gave it a nod soon. The film is expected to begin shooting from October. Kaushik even went on to call Salman a good luck charm as he spoke to Mirror saying, "Salman is the film’s good luck charm and it all happened because of Bharat. One day, last August in Malta, we were discussing Salman’s role in promoting good cinema and talent and in the course of the conversation, he asked me what I was working on. I told him about Kaagaz and he loved the story. I asked him if he’d like to present the film and he immediately agreed. It is certainly nice to see Salman supporting content-driven cinema. With an actor like Pankaj Tripathi on board, we are sure the film will have a great impact. Salman recently also turned a producer for the popular dance reality show, Nach Baliye Season 7 and will be seen on the show soon.
