Salman Khan to Start a Chain of Theatres and His Intentions To Do So Is Clap-Worthy!
If his plans work, Salman Talkies will be flagged off in Maharashtra before Salman will expand it to other states in a matter of ten years.
Salman Khan is donning many hats at the same time. For Race 3, he is not just the lead star but also the producer. Salman Khan has also turned lyricist with the song Selfish in the movie. Later, when the deal with Eros fell apart, Salman Khan has also turned distributor for the movie. Now we hear Salman Khan is starting a chain of theatres called Salman Talkies and this move of his will endear Salman to his fans even more.
But if you think he had this plan ever since he turned distributor, then you are wrong. Salman Khan had wanted to start a theatre chain from the past two years. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Salman revealed, "I had a lot of plans for the theatre chain but it’s taking me longer because I need to be very careful. There are a lot of logistical details involved so that the project doesn’t shut down. But let me clarify, the theatres will not be in Bandra or Juhu, but on the outskirts of Mumbai."
So what prompted him to make these plans? Apparently, it had to do with the high ticket prices the common folks had to pay, especially those living on the outskirts. By reducing the ticket rates, Salman believes will only help in reducing piracy and increasing box office collections. He continued, "Ticket rates should be brought down to Rs 200-250 for weekends and Rs 120-150 for weekdays, the way it is for regional films. With Hindi films, the numbers are higher but we need the footfalls too." Salman is already in talks with many producers and distributors to understand how to go about starting the chain. If his plans work, Salman Talkies will be flagged off in Maharashtra before Salman will expand it to other states in a matter of ten years.
In the same interview, Salman also talked about what prompted him to turn distributor for Race 3, as well as Aayush Sharma's debut film, Loveratri. "We were in talks with Eros for the longest time. Eventually, we reached a phase where the terms and conditions were not met, and the deal fell through. But something good came out of it. I am distributing Race 3 and will also distribute Aayush’s debut film," Salman added. Race 3, directed by Remo D'Souza, will release on June 7.
