Salman Khan has been often tied to controversies because of his uncensored statements. Despite being criticized several times for his controversial statements, he does not mince a word while opining on a subject. This time too, his statement on ‘Depression being a luxury’ was probably caught by Deepika Padukone. We all know that DP has been constantly working on this cause on various public platforms. During ‘How India Perceives Mental Health’ launch in Delhi, she pointed out that depression should not be considered as luxury!

During the panel discussion while launching the study on the subject, the Padmaavat actress noted that it is a myth that depression happens only to wealthy people. She said, “When we were talking about more celebrities coming out, there is also a misconception that depression happens to people who are successful. I want to clarify that it can happen to anybody from any field, irrespective of their socio-economic background. Depression is sometimes perceived as a luxury. People think that those who have too much time or money get into depression. I think it is very important to break that myth.”

Now just to remind you the Tiger Zinda Hai actor’s statement, he had said during an interaction, “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me."

Well, DP’s statement is exactly a befitting reply to Race 3 actor’s statement, be it intentionally or unintentionally. What are your views on depression? Post them in the comments section below.
