Remember the time when singer Papon was ousted from his own show for kissing a minor contestant in a leaked video? Papon tried to defend himself when he said he did it out of paternal affection and there was no malicious intent to it. But the fact that it looked really pervy and done without the consent of the kid in question made everyone ostracise the singer. Now Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez have found themselves in a similar, though less intimidating, situation. However, it is still a question of celebs knowing where to draw a line when it comes to consent.
The incident happened during the shoot of Dance Deewane where the cast of Race 3, including Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez, the video of which Jacqueline had unwittingly posted on her Instagram timeline. The video shows a little contestant saying no to Salman Khan's offer of having Jacqueline hug him. Not happy with his answer, Salman and Jacqueline go on stage, and the later forcibly hugs the kid. In the video, you can clearly see the child is not very comfortable with this. Later, Jacqueline even rubs his belly.
The fact that Jacqueline found it cute enough to post the video is an affirmation that she has no clue that what she did was wrong. However, her followers did school her (and Salman) in the comments section, where they reminded the duo that what they did could be called as child abuse.
Saying out words exactly!
Harsh but true!
A lesson from PINK!
Schooled!
Cringy!
We can say that both Salman and Jacqueline do not have any malicious intent in their mind when they hugged the kid. But that doesn't make their actions appropriate. Even if it's a child, if he or she is saying no to you getting into his or her comfort zone, make sure you respect that!
