2018 looks to be a year not very good for Salman Khan, especially when it comes to legal matters. If the blackbuck poaching case had landed him in jail for two days earlier this year, there is still more to come for Salman. Another trial awaits him with regards to Salman Khan insulting the Valmiki community during the shoot of a reality show.
The community had accused Salman Khan of insulting their community after a five-year old video of the actor had surfaced online. In the video, which was a part of a reality show, has the actor along with Shilpa Shetty utter deemingly racists comments where they compared themselves to a sanitation worker. Around 6 cases were filed against the actor, which made Salman Khan move to the apex court. Thankfully for him, this time Supreme Court was quite favourable to Salman.
As per a report in ANI, the SC has stayed proceedings in these six cases. It will further have a hearing on whether the FIR against him will be quashed, or will be considered. The next date of hearing is scheduled to be on July 23.
Earlier the youth of the Valmiki community had held protests against the actor during the release of his movie, Tiger Zinda Hai. In a memorandum signed by Kirankumar Solanki, national president of Valmiki Swaraj Abhiyan, and Ishwar Solanki, president of the All Gujarat Rushi Samaj Sena, it said, "I recently saw content on social media in which Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty uttered casteist remarks in which they insulted the Valmiki community. My community's sentiments are hurt by their remarks. Kindly initiate action against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under the sections of the Atrocity Act."
Salman already has his bucket of legal woes overflowing, what with the High Court's hearing on the blackbuck poaching case, where Salman Khan was convicted for five years by the Jodhpur Court. Recently, the bailable warrant against him in the 2002 hit and run case was cancelled by the Bombay High Court.
