Ajay Devgn’s period drama ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’ has created a lot of excitement. The flick is based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s military leader Tanaji Malusare, naturally making it an interesting subject to make a film on. While rumors are already rife that Kajol will be playing the lead actress in the mega movie opposite Ajay, Saif is now said to be the antagonist. Saif Ali Khan is currently the hottest name in the town, thanks to his popular Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’. Given to that, him playing a negative role will simply be a bliss to watch.

A source told DNA, “The Taanaji team believes that Saif will make for an interesting choice to play Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer and fortkeeper appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Moghul army under Aurangzeb. The film recounts the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670, which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army, and Udaybhan. The former sacrificed his life to recapture Sinhagad Fort from the Moghuls.”

It is not the first time that Saif will play an antagonist. His role as ‘langda Tyagi’ in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara was a super-hit. No one really imagined the chocolate boy from Hum Tum could play a diplomatic evil like Tyagi and he won the hearts with the character in the Ajay Devgn starrer. This is will be the fourth film of Ajay- Saif duo after LOC Kargil, Kachche Dhaage and Omkara. There is no confirmation on the reports yet, but we hope that this works out!
