The show, which has been in the making for some time, has been directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.

In an innovative movie when it comes to Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan has decided to add a twist to his career by starring in Netflix's first proper Indian fictional show. Sacred Games is based on popular author Vikram Chandra's best-selling novel by the same name, and has Said Ali Khan play a Sikh cop based in Mumbai. The series will also star two other acting power-weights in Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The show, which has been in the making for some time, has been directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. Netflix India has released the first look of the three main characters in the show, and we have to say they are pretty interesting.  We are really intrigued by Saif's turnabaned look with blood splattered on his face.

Here's Netflix's tweet,

In case you are curious to know what the story is all about, here's the synopsis of the book Sacred Games taken from Goodreads - "Vikram Chandra's novel draws the reader deep into the life of Inspector Sartaj Singh—and into the criminal underworld of Ganesh Gaitonde, the most wanted gangster in India. Sartaj, one of the very few Sikhs on the Mumbai police force, is used to being identified by his turban, beard and the sharp cut of his trousers. But "the silky Sikh" is now past forty, his marriage is over and his career prospects are on the slide. When Sartaj gets an anonymous tip-off as to the secret hide-out of the legendary boss of G-Company, he's determined that he'll be the one to collect the prize."

Earlier speaking to PTI, Saif Ali Khan had this to say about working on the show, “It is not any way the come down, it is a step in new direction (for me as an actor). It is very liberating as an actor to have a platform (like Netflix) to act in. There is a certain quality to Netflix, it is not (typical). It has an international feel to it. Also, Vikramaditya Motwane is a wonderful director, and is a responsible showrunner. He is comparing us to House of Cards. It is going to be the best show coming out of India and I am hopeful everyone will be proud of it”.

The details of when the show will start streaming are yet to be revealed, so watch this space for more updates on Sacred Games.
