News18: "The film starts off well and then its pace nosedives with director Karan Lalit Butani never trying to crank up its horsepower. Ruslaan is also unintentionally funny in parts. But that’s enough to keep you hooked throughout the length of the narrative. The second half, particularly, is packed to the brim with long-drawn and elaborate action sequences that you keep questioning where the film is headed."

Firstpost: "Patriotic sentiments religiously get equated to the pensiveness of the characters. Ditto for Ruslaan. There are tried and tested monologues and endless conversations about desh and duty that these people mouth with such ease and expressionlessness that none leave an impact." DNA: "Aayush has a natural flair for action and the action choreography, to do justice to him, has been shot in close-ups, which shows that he has put in the effort to make each stunt stand out. The film's narrative keeps viewers on the edge of their seats even as the story takes them from Mumbai to Azerbaijan on a thrilling ride, with Aayush carrying the film on his able shoulders."

Pinkvilla: "Ruslaan's story is very routine, clichéd and basic and so are the characters. The execution is not upto the mark. Slow-motion shots literally bore you. The screenplay is extremely lousy. The plot is of convenience and suspension of disbelief is essential."
