It is a nostalgic day for the Kapoors today. The family has been celebrating the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with enthusiasm for years together. However, this year Rishi Kapoor and the family took a mighty decision of selling the RK studios where this ganeshotsav celebration takes place. This year, being the last one, now the visarjan procession of the ‘RK’ Ganpati is on its way. Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and other family members were spotted waving to crowd who gathered to watch this nostalgic moment.
Ranbir is seen in a white shirt, pushing his way through a heavy security around him. Meanwhile, his uncle Rajeev Kapoor looked quite emotional as he participated in the procession. The Kapoors usually go all the way along from Chembur to sea near Shivaji Park in Dadar. Every year, the procession sees a large crowd but this time it is doubled up as this is the last ganpati celebration at the RK studios. Check out the videos.

The family took the decision of selling this 2 acre plot collectively as they faced the brunt of expenses through the studio. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Rishi Kapoor had informed, "The investment in rebuilding the studio would just not have yielded sufficient revenue to keep it going. Believe me, we had to take the larger picture into account and take a level-headed decision. Even before the fire, for years R. K. Studio had become a huge white elephant, toting up losses. The few bookings we would get from films, TV serials and ad shoots would expect free parking space, air-conditioning and discounts." RK Studios is Up For Sale, But at What Cost? The Estimated Net Worth of Kapoors' Iconic Studio Will Surprise You
The tradition has been going on the studio since over 66 years and the family declared that this will be the last ganeshotsav at the iconic studios. The film studio was initiated by actor Raj Kapoor and many popular films have been shot here. Barsaat, Awaara, Jagte Raho, Shree 420, Sangam, Bobby, Prem Rog, Aa Ab Laut Chale are amongst the many films that were made in this studio. We wonder how the next Ganesh Chaturthi celebration will be done by the the Kapoors.
