Nawazuddin Siddiqui- Nandita Das’ film ‘Manto’ received acclamation. However, Rishi Kapoor who did a short role in the film for Nandita’s sake, declared that he did a ‘wrong’ thing. The Kapoor and Sons actor in an interview to an agency revealed that the actress-director was hell-bent on casting him for a cameo in the movie, but he should have not done it. However, in a tweet, he has clarified that the reports are untrue and that he has all the support for the film which will be featured at the Cannes 2018 film festival.
The 102 Not Out actor posted a tweet that reads, “I have done one scene in Nandita Das’s film “Manto” in a cameo. Just for the respect and admiration I have for her. Some mischief monger has tried to create a wedge between her and me. Absolutely untrue! I support the film and wish her all the best at Cannes Film Festival!” We hope that things are well between the duo.

As per the reports, Nandita had originally decided to cast Om Puri in the same role. However, after his sudden demise, she approached Rishi Kapoor who readily agreed to be the part of the film. The veteran actor was quoted saying by PTI, “"My fans complain to me why I have to do short roles. It is a very wrong thing I did. I shouldn't be doing this. Either give me an elaborate role where I am happy or else I won't do. I don't think I will ever repeat this mistake." Now that there are no misunderstandings left, we too wish luck to the Manto team for the international stint.
