Ranveer Singh Not Doing A Movie with Aditya Chopra, YRF Issues Statement

Earlier we had done a speculative story on whether Ranveer Singh had replaced Shah Rukh Khan as director Aditya Chopra's favourite actor. This was based on a scoop that came out in Bollywood Hungama which revealed a secret project that Adi is developing and he is in talks with his protege Ranveer to take on as the lead. Ranveer had played the main protagonist in Aditya Chopra's last movie, Befikre. The rumoured project was said to have none of the raunchiness of their earlier movie, and instead would be a family affair.

However, the production house, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has issued a statement where they denied any talks with Ranveer Singh happening now. The statement read, “Yash Raj Films would like to categorically dismiss rumours suggesting Aditya Chopra is directing his next with Ranveer Singh. As of today, Aditya Chopra has not finalised anything about his next directorial. He is immersed in all his productions for at least one more year before he begins thinking/planning his next.”

That said, the article in the online portal insists that a meeting did happen between Ranveer and Aditya over a project. The article quotes sources from within Yash Raj Films saying, “Adi and Ranveer have met and extensively discussed their next film together. It will be a contemporary theme. But not sexually charged film like Befikre. It will be more in the tradition of Yash Raj Films. Ranveer will play a sweet lovable family guy whom everyone from the Daadi to the Daddy to the Didi dotes on.”

So who is tell the the truth here and who isn't? Guess we have to watch and watch to find this out. Knowing Aditya Chopra's super secretive nature, it will not be a short wait at all.
