Ranveer Singh has his plate full of interesting projects right now and one of them is 'Takht'. Karan Johar is all set to try his hands on the historical period drama with this flick based on the Mughal era. Ranveer has a crucial role to play in it and the actor recently confirmed the same during an event. He will be playing the role of as Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal's eldest son Dara Shikoh.

When asked about his collaboration with KJo, he said that he had been wanting to work with the Dharma honcho since a long time. Now that the opportunity has knocked his door, he is very much excited to collaborate for this extravagant project.

Speaking of his experiment in this genre that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a pro at, he told Filmcompanion, "I would be lying if I didn’t admit that the comparison is very challenging. I love Sanjay’s aesthetic. The comparison scares me but I hope I can find my own voice. I hope I’m not doomed by comparison. I’m just recovering from Sairat and I can’t go there again. Takht has a stellar star cast including Ranveer, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in the lead. There were speculations that Vicky Kaushal will be playing the dark role of Aurangzeb. Now that, Ranveer has confirmed his role, we suppose that even he is prepping up for this period drama.
