2018 was a year of celeb marriages in Bollywood. One of the most talked about weddings was that of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Their wedding at Lake Como in November 201 8 was a front-page headline and since then the tales of their happy married life have been surfacing every now and then. As it still continues, in a recent interview, the Gully Boy star was asked the most cliched question about 'changing surnames' after marriage. Shahid Kapoor Opens About His RIFT With Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali; Says He Wished Padmaavat Was 'More Balanced In It's Screen Time'.

Despite entering in 2019, there is still a substantial amount of importance given to surnames of the celebs after marriage. Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Twinkle Khanna were the recent ones who were asked about their 'surnames' after marriage.

While some of them happily changed or added the surname, others chose to retain the same. However, people cannot really get over the curiosity of adding or subtracting the surname from their name and Ranveer was the latest victim of this cliched question. During an interview with Famously Filmfare, DP was asked about her 'surname after marriage' to which she had replied, "it might be Deepika Padukone - wife of Ranveer Singh Padukone." Then it was Ranveer's time to have an interview with the same publication. When he was asked to comment on his wife's statement, he said, "Since I have dropped my surname (Bhavnani), I need a new one, so why not! It’s a legendary surname."

While it is a heart-warming response that the Simmba actor gave, don't you think it is high time we should stop making a fuss of whether surnames are being changed or not after marriage by the celebs?
