Rangeela Raja: Govinda and Pahlaj Nihalani's Film Finally Cleared With U/A Rating, Released Pushed To This Date
Rangeela Raja has Govinda in a double role, with Mishika Chourasia, Anupama Agnihotri and Digangana Suryavanshi.
Govinda's upcoming film, Rangeela Raja, has been battling Censor Board for quite some time, which has made the makers defer the release date of the film a couple of times. The Central Board Of Film Certification had recommended 20 cuts for the film, which the producer of the film was totally against, and he took the matter to court. Ironically, the producer is Pahlaj Nihalani, whose tenure as the CBFC chief was considered as one of the most controversial phases in Indian cinema. CBFC had accused Rangeela Raja of promoting sexist and misogynistic values and for showing the lead as an unrepentant molester. Pahlaj accused the Board of carrying a personal vendetta against him. When the makers didn't get any respite from the court, they approached the Film Certification Tribunal (FCAT), the higher appeal body in CBFC. Now as per the latest update, the FCAT has passed the film with a U/A rating. Though we are not sure if the board recommended any cuts, we are confident that the makers will be happy with the decision. Following the clearance, Rangeela Raja has now got a new release date. It will be now releasing on January 11, 2019, where it will be clashing with Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike.
