Ranbir Kapoor to Romance Vaani Kapoor in Shamshera?

Recently, one of the most surprising movie announcements was done by Yash Raj Films with Shamshera. A dacoit saga, it will be directed by Karan Malhotra and will have Ranbir Kapoor in the lead as Shamshera. What's the surprise factor here is that there were very little feelers about the movie, so that announcement shook everyone. Especially the fact that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing a dacoit in the movie.

The makers had released a teaser video that gave us a glimpse of how Ranbir's character will look like. Later, came another interesting development when it was announced that Sanjay Dutt will be playing the main antagonist. Ranbir is playing Sanjay Dutt in his biopic, Sanju, so this was an intriguing deal. And now, as per a report in Filmfare, YRF has found the leading lady for Shamshera in their blue-eyed girl, Vaani Kapoor. However, there has been no official announcement on this by the studios.

Vaani Kapoor has made her official acting debut with the banner in Shuddh Desi Romance, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. She was last seen in Aditya Chopra's 2016 film Befikre, where she was cast opposite Ranveer Singh. Vaani is also chosen as the female lead in the yet-untitled film with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. Interestingly, her first hero, Sushant, is himself playing the lead in another dacoit film, Sonchiraiya.

Coming back to Ranbir's involvement in the movie, according to reports, he has signed a 3-film deal with Yash Raj Films. He had earlier worked with them in Bachna Ae Haseeno and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.
