Right in his debut film Saawariya in 2007, Ranbir had given fans a good view of his derriere as a lover boy but Sanju is different. The actor has gone naked while portraying the harrowing tale of actor Sanjay Dutt’s life. The senior actor was sentenced to three-year jail term in 1993 Mumbai blasts case and was incarcerated in Yerwada Central Jail. In three shots, we see Ranbir stand naked before the police as a part of standard process. This scene is heart-breaking with Ranbir as Sanjay is left humiliated to the core!

2. Rajkummar Rao in Shahid (2012)

Rajkummar Rao is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood and his filmography is a great proof of it. The actor loves to get under the skin of the character he portrays on screen and that is why Rajkummar volunteered to go naked for the police interrogation scene in 2012 film Shahid, based on the life of slain lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi. Rao wanted to feel the pain and humiliation of the character for real.

3. Neil Nitin Mukesh in Jail (2009)

Neil Nitin Mukesh has portrayed one of the most gruesome torture scenes in Madhur Bhandarkar’s 2009 film Jail. He gave a full-frontal nude shot, and this has been quite an eyebrow-raising bold scene in Bollywood for a while.

4. John Abraham in New York (2009)

The aggressive American foreign policy post the deadly 9/11 terrorist attacks was the topic of Kabir Khan-directed New York in 2009. Everyone has read horrific incidents of heightened suspicion of non-Americans and there’s a similar scene in the film with actor John Abraham undergoing a painful strip-search. It will make your blood curdle imagining the trauma faced by people during that period.

5. Kunal Kapoor in Rang De Basanti (2006)

In another savage interrogation scene filmed in Bollywood saw actor Kunal Kapoor go full monty. It was for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-direct cult classic Rang De Basanti in 2006. The actor is shown brutally placed on an ice slab with his hands and legs tightly tied as he faces the wrath of men in uniform.

Male nudity in Bollywood has been in existence for long. Before making Ranbir shed his clothes for his role in Sanju, Rajkumar Hirani had made Aamir Khan go the full monty in his last directorial, PK in 2014. But the aforementioned scenes are not just about men being naked but more so about their pain, humiliation and torture. We think these male actors have done a commendable job.
