2018 has been a very great year for Ranbir Kapoor. After a series of debacles, Ranbir Kapoor finally scored a hit with Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju, and what a hit it has been! It has become the highest grossing movie of 2018 and also Ranbir Kapoor's only film to enter the Rs 300 crore club. With his performance getting some real high praise, Ranbir Kapoor is also going to get some big awards as the Best Actor next year.
There were also some exciting films announced with him in the lead, like YRF's Shamshera or the two-hero project with Ajay Devgn. Not to mention, Brahmastra, which could be Ranbir's biggest film as the lead. What's not to get excited about Ranbir Kapoor's career? Even his personal life (a romance with Alia Bhatt) is going great guns, but that's the story for another feature, not here. Ranbir Kapoor Birthday Special: These Adorable Pictures of the Actor With His Girlfriend Alia Bhatt Prove How They Love Making Memories Together.
Now we all know that Ranbir is a good actor who loves to challenge himself. We also know how Bollywood loves to 'borrow' ideas from Hollywood movies. So why not 'borrow' some really good roles from Hollywood that could challenge the actor in Ranbir? Like the five below-
Jerry Maguire
This Tom Cruise movie had him play a successful sports agent, who loses his clients and his agency's favour in one stroke when he decides to be unscrupulous in his dealings. Left with just one client, he tries to revive his old name while balancing a romance with a single mother. Ranbir's talents can easily be used to the best effect in both the dramatic and romantic portions.
The Talented Mr Ripley
How about adding a little grey? Ranbir Kapoor is known to experiment, so how about playing a sociopath with bisexual tendencies? Will Ranbir be game for this? Ranveer Singh did try this facet of acting in Padmaavat earlier this ear.
La La Land
This Oscar-winning musical can be a perfect recipe for a remake with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead. Karan Johar, are you listening? On the other hand, after the fiasco of Jagga Jassoos, Ranbir might be wary of musicals.
The Guest
This cult thriller starred the dashing Dan Stevens, who arrives at the house of a dead soldier claiming to be his friend, though he is not exactly what he says. Ranbir can use his unassuming charm to play a menacing stranger with unknown ambitions. Also he can kick some ass here!
Nightcrawler
I know I am choosing some dark choices here. But I believe that Ranbir Kapoor can easily do grey shades with panache, despite the misgivings of Besharam and Bombay Velvet. This one, a satire on mead that relies too much on breaking news, has Jake Gyllenhaal play a freelance reporter who makes his news to make a quick buck, even it means harming someone.
On behalf of the LatestLY desk, I wish the talented Ranbir Kapoor Many Many Happy Returns of the Day!
