Superstar Salman Khan is going all guns blazing promoting his upcoming action-thriller Race 3, his Eid treat for fans this year on June 15. Flashback 20 years ago, Salman had starred in one of the most iconic films — Judwaa — his first movie with director David Dhawan and a film that gave the Hindi film industry one of its most successful actor-director duos. The 1997 blockbuster was also responsible for bringing the spotlight on actress Rambha. She is best remembered by Bollywood fans for playing Salman’s love interest Roopa in the comedy film. Born on June 5, 1976, the gorgeous actress turns 42 today and we wish her a very Happy Birthday!
Did you know Rambha’s birth name is Vijayalakshmi? The actress was born in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She adopted the stage name Rambha after her character’s name in her Telugu debut film Aa Okkati Adakku in 1992. The Southern beauty has also worked in several Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films. She even dabbled in Bhojpuri and Bengali cinema in the late 2000s.
Coming to Hindi films, after gaining recognition with Judwaa, Rambha went on to star in Gharwali Baharwali along with Anil Kapoor and Raveena Tandon in 1998. The same year, she bagged another film opposite Salman Khan - Bandhan. She also shared screen space with Govinda in Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta in 2001. Despite having worked with some of the biggest names in showbiz, Rambha wasn’t able to cement her place as an established leading actress.
Rambha tied the knot with Canada-based businessman Indrakumar Pathmanathan in 2010. Following her marriage, she quit acting and moved to Toronto to enjoy marital bliss. Rambha is a proud mother of two daughters: 7-year-old Laanya and 3-year-old Sasha.
Two years ago, there were reports of Rambha’s marriage with her husband hitting a rough patch; the couple has reportedly sorted out their differences. On the occasion of Mother's Day this year, the actress shared the news of her pregnancy. The Judwaa heroine on May 13 revealed that she is pregnant with her third child. Hearty congratulations to the couple!
