It is that time of the year, when every sister gear up to get pampered by their adorable brothers. Yes! Raksha Bandhan - the festival that celebrates the unique bond between siblings. As Raksha Bandhan is right around the corner, we bring to you some of the fantastic movies from B-Town that you could binge watch this weekend. As this holiday is celebrated each year in the spirit of brother-sister love and affection, here are Bollywood movies that beautifully captures the essence of a brother-sister bond with perfection. This year let’s start the celebrations with a look back at Bollywood’s most memorable on-screen siblings!
Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
One of the recent awesome movie on brother-sister relationship has to be Dil Dhadakne Do starring Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh, who played siblings in the film. The relationship the two shared in the film would instantly remind you Ross and Monica Geller from the most popular Hollywood show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Ranveer and Priyanka's on-screen sibling chemistry was simply perfect! Helmed by Zoya Akhtar and bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the film features an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka, Ranveer, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar.
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008)
Genelia D'Souza – Prateik Babbar starrer Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is one of my favourite films. From an annoying brother to a sweetest, possessive and protective brother, Prateik's character was a raw representation of every elder brother and one could totally relate. The film was a best portrayal of a heart-warming brother-sister relationship. Helmed by Abbas Tyrewala, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na featured Imran Khan, Genelia D'Souza in pivotal roles and Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Nirav Mehta and Alishka Varde in supporting roles.
Josh (2000)
Remember the adorable camaraderie between Shah Rukh Khan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan? Of course, you do. Who can forget when two of the hottest stars of a generation are put together as siblings in a film? Helmed by Mansoor Khan, Josh was set against the backdrop of Goa and revolved around the overprotective brother and his adorable, caring sister. Isn't exactly the kind of camaraderie that every brother and sister today share? Speaking of actors, the pair was the talk of the town and it was the first and the last time that Shah Rukh and Aishwarya were showcased as brother and sister until now.
Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998)
Arbaaz Khan and Kajol starrer Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya showcased a very beautiful love and hate bond between the brother-sister duo. Helmed by Sohail Khan, the film featured Salman Khan, Kajol in pivotal roles.
Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971)
Talk about the brother-sister relationship, this movie is sure to hit you. Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman starrer Hare Rama Hare Krishna is the best portrayal of how a brother can go miles for his drug addict hippie sister to bring her back from her addictions. This cult classic is very well remembered for one of the best songs - Phoolon Ka Taron Ka, crooned by Lata Mangeskar and is probably the most popular movie based on brother sister relationship. The film went on to become a huge success back then.
