So the biggest Bollywood movie in the first half of 2018 is here. Race 3 is Salman Khan's Eid release of this year and going by the promos, you know that this is going to be an entertainer aimed at Bhai's hardcore fanbase. Salman Khan has also produced the movie, along with TIPS. Race 3 also stars Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem and Freddy Daruwala. Remo D'Souza has directed the film. Our critic, Sreeju Sudhakaran, is currently watching the movie and here's what he has to say about the first half.
So Salman Khan is Sikander aka Sikku, who is the step-son of a business magnate and don, played by Anil Kapoor. While he is kind-hearted and caring, his siblings, played by Saqib Saleem and Daisy Shah, hate him to the core. There is Bobby Deol who is their bodyguard of sorts. Things get complicated in the family with a heist, and the arrival of a femme fatale (Jacqueline Fernandez) amidst them. As with all Race movies, double crossing, twists and action ensue.
Two things that stand out in the first half of Race 3 are the slick production values and Anil Kapoor. We can clearly see that the makers have spared no expense in making Race 3 a visual treat. The action sequences are well-done, if too stretched. The cinematography is good. If only they had spent more money in script, dialogues and better execution. Race 3 sucks in all these categories. The first half uses elements from the first Race but ruin them with some silly direction. Among the actors, only Anil Kapoor manages to stand apart from the rest with grace. Salman Khan sleepwalks through his role.
Needless to say, the first half of Race 3 is an epic disappointment. Check out our complete review here.
