Salman Khan's first proper release of 2018, Race 3, releases this Eid to really bad reviews. But then Salman Khan's films are nearly critic-proof, aren't they? At least in the opening weekend itself, we know that Salman Khan films rock at the box office thanks to his die-hard fan base. But at some point of them, when Bhai makes shoddy movies one after another, there has to be a saturation point, right? Last year, we had a glimpse of that when Tubelight underperformed at the box office. Now it looks like even Race 3 could go the same way.
Of course, Race 3, directed by Remo D'Souza, has got off to a decent start. But as per a report in Koimoi, the movie has registered 55-60% occupancy, which is less when it comes to a Salman movie. For example, his last release, Tiger Zinda Hai, registered 90% occupancy. Why, even this year's Hollywood film Avengers: Infinity War had got more than 90% occupancy. So yeah, this is disappointing.
Trade sources are also predicting that Race 3 might collect around Rs 20 to Rs 25 crores on the first day. It remains to be seen how the film will perform in the days ahead. We have to inform you that the movie is already profitable, thanks to the satellite rights being sold at a high price, plus Salman himself turning distributor for the film.
Race 3 also stars Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem. The movie is produced by TIPS and Salman Khan Films.
