It was in 2017 when the announcement on PV Sindhu biopic was made by Sonu Sood, but the project has not been rolled out yet. It is now been said that by end of 2019 it will go on floors. Back then the actor also confirmed that besides bankrolling the film, he would also be essaying the role of badminton coach Pullela Gopichand. The next thing fans wanted to know was who would be playing the titular role. The speculations were rife that Deepika Padukone must be portraying the role. While talking to Bombay Times about casting the lead actress, actor Sonu Sood stated that he wanted the actress playing the lead role should know the game well. He was quoted saying, “I don’t want to get into a zone where I have to wait till eternity to make this film. You can’t teach someone to play world-class badminton in just a few months. It’s important that the leading lady knows the game well, which makes it a challenging task for us. Every film comes with its destiny. I don’t know who is destined to play Sindhu, but yes, Deepika Padukone has always been our first choice and that holds true even today. Sonu Sood further said, “Hawa mein baatein karne se koi faayda nahin hota. Now, when we give her the script, we'll know if she’s game to be a part of this biopic.
