After asking music companies to stop working with Pakistani artists, Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has now asked radio stations to boycott Pakistani singers and stop playing their songs on air. In a letter, the party showed its strong disregard for FM channels still continuing to play songs that have been sung by Pakistani artists.

After sharing the strongly worded letter, Shalini Thackeray, the General Secretary of the party shared the letter on Twitter and wrote, "The whole country is in mourning after this cowardly act by the Pakistani establishment which claimed the lives of our innocent soldiers and [we] want action. But these FM radio channels are busy playing the songs of Pakistani artists.”Pulwama Terror Attack: Salman Khan Replaces Pakistani Singer Atif Aslam In Notebook.

Take a look at Shalini Thackeray's tweet here:

She particularly lashed out at FM channels for still continuing to play Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan songs. The letter released by the party also named other artists such as Ghulam Ali, Ali Zafar. The letter has been issued by the party as a warning to all the FM channels and Thackeray even suggested that if it is left unheeded by the radio stations, then the party workers would protest at the radio station premises. Pulwama Terror Attack: All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) Announces Total Ban of Pakistani Actors Working In Film Industry.

This is not the first time that MNS has taken a strong stand against Pakistani artists. In 2016, after the Uri attack, the party asked Indian filmmakers to not cast any Pakistani actors in their film. The Pulwama Attack has heavily impacted the cultural exchange between the two countries. Indian singers, Rekha Bharadwaj and Harshedeep Kaur too pulled out of a musical event that was to be held in Pakistan.
